Sports Facility of the Year- Amway Center

I recently ran across an article on the Amway Center, which received the AIA Orlando Chapter Award of Honor for 2011. Can you believe it has been that long since it opened? Architects were: Populous (Architect Of Record), Baker Barrios Architects (Assoc Architects), C.T. Hsu + Associates (Assoc. Architects) Orlando, Florida. The jury comments were: “The building does a nice job bridging the downtown district to the south Paramore district. Spatially, the pre-determined commercial venues add new dimension to the project. Inventive use of the exterior terrace spaces.”
Another great reason to Love Orlando – it is the coolest place to watch the Orlando Magic, the circus, or concerts! It received Sports Facility of the Year by the Street & Smith’s SportsBusiness Journal and SportsBusiness Daily, as well, at the prestigious Sports Business Awards in New York City in 2012, which annually recognizes excellence and outstanding achievement in the business of sports. here is the article: http://www.nba.com/magic/news/amway_center_named_facility_of_the_year_052312.html
